The two tracks in many ways draw from the most exposed source of creative compulsion. They are the bookends of one’s surrender to a yearning outside of one’s own. ‘Burning’ is the precursor, ‘The Sequel’ is a declaration. Taking from an observation of nuance from Barthes, the two tracks are fragments of an enduring preoccupation with devotion. Their sonic approach is indistinguishable from the feelings inscribed. In ‘Burning, the production is a dizzying navigation of emotions under fire, from wonky quips and glossy lasers to cavernous susurration. ‘The Sequel’, on the other hand, is a soft, continuous ride — a glow from a distance. A combination of pining and avowal bleeds through ghostly sonics and unrelenting drum patterns. The two together comprise a letter, one that proposes renewal and return over a lifetime of loving.
